iLearning- more-info-on-workshops

Where do the iLearning sessions take place?

The sessions are currently run in Bristol, UK.

We use exciting venues that have a history of engineering or are linked to science and tech in some way to inspire our members.

We have many parents who are local, and also a fair few that travel down for the sessions.

Due to this we always ensure the venues are easily accessible and have plenty of parking.

When do the workshops run?

They run a few times throughout the year - it does vary as we get busy with schools, but we are doing our best to make them regular.

They usually run on a Saturday.

We are currently finalising dates for the next sessions.

What will my child(ren) learn?

Your child will learn about the following:

Knowledge:

- What is happening with robotics at the moment in the real world
- Where this could lead to in the future and how it might affect jobs and education

Content:

- How to program a variety of different robots
- Learn to use different programming languages
- How to make a robot
- Electronics
- How to think like a programmer & solve fun challenges

The sessions are very hands on, kids are allowed to explore and try out ideas.

Skills:

- Teamwork - your child will not be forced to work with someone, but its much more fun if they do, so it's probably best if they bring a friend.
- Problem solving: we teach your child to think on his/her feet, using questioning and experimentation to find answers
- Communication: we teach kids how to present their ideas and make new friends
- Confidence: a lot of parents have told us that their child is much more confident as a result of attending the iLearning workshops in Bristol.

Does my child need to be geeky?

Not at all, we welcome all types of kids and no experience is necessary.

Zan is a very experienced teacher and knows how to set challenges that are accessible to newbies but still challenge the seasoned members.

So everyone who attends will learn something new, despite their background and number of previous workshops that they have attended.
